A bunch of books can save lives

Booklovers from across the Nation’s Capital are eagerly awaiting this weekend when they can browse Canberra’s biggest book collection at the Lifeline Canberra Southside Bookfair!

With books of all genres, including special editions, everyone can find their perfect book at the Lifeline Canberra Bookfair.

Inviting all Canberrans to visit the Bookfair on Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday (12, 13, 14 July), Lifeline Canberra CEO Carrie Leeson said every book purchased contributes vital funds to support vulnerable people in our community.

“It costs $26 to take a life-saving call in our telephone crisis support centre. At our Bookfair, this equates to around a handful of books, so every purchase is valuable,” Carrie said.

“At the Bookfair, visitors will also get to see and meet our wonderful volunteers who work hard every day to make our Bookfairs the professional and fun events they are. The care our volunteers have for every book and every Bookfair visitor is heart-warming.”

“Not only do we have many, many books, this year we have 30% more quality games & puzzles than last year. Something for everyone! Board Games, strategy games, console & pc games, Lego & toys, and lots & lots of puzzles.”

The Bookfair is open

Friday, 12 July, 9am to 6pm;

Saturday, 13 July, 9am to 5pm;

Sunday, 14 July, 10am to 4pm.

Our Southside Bookfair is held at Tuggeranong Southern Cross Stadium, 7 Pitman Street, Greenway ACT.

Entry is by gold coin donation. All proceeds go directly to our local 13 11 14 crisis support and suicide prevention service, changing lives for the better.

Lifeline Canberra is proud to partner with Communities@Work to help support people experiencing hardship in our community. At each Bookfair, we run a food drive and ask patrons to bring along some non-perishable food to donate.
